Oral Glucosamine Sulphate in the Management
of Arthrosis - Report on a Multi-Centre Open Investigation in Portugal
| Article
Summary: |
A
study was conducted to examine the effect of glucosamine
sulfate for arthrosis. Patients of over 250 doctors
were administered glucosamine sulfate for treatment
of their arthritic pain. Doses of 1.5g were given
daily to patients, and their feelings of pain were
measured at rest, standing and during activity.
Improvement was found over the course of treatment,
and the improvement continued for up to 12 weeks
after the glucosamine treatments stopped. The glucosamine
was found to be effective for all types of arthritis
and all sites of arthritis. There were no side effects
that were found to be related to the glucosamine
treatments, and most patients tolerated the glucosamine
well. |
