Glucosamine Sulfate Compared to Ibuprofen in Osteoarthritis
of the Knee
| Article
Summary: |
| Glucosamine
has been proven to alleviate pain associated with arthritis
and has a protective effect that aids in regenerating
some of the joint deterioration. This study placed participants
who suffer from arthritis into one of two groups, one
of which who received 500mg of glucosamine the other
who received 400mg of ibuprofen every day for 4 weeks.
The Lesquesne index was used to see the change brought
about by the treatments, as well as the condition of
the arthritis as investigated by a researcher. The ibuprofen
and the glucosamine sulfate were both effective at reducing
pain for osteoarthritis. Glucosamine then is considered
a safe treatment for osteoarthritis. |
