Double-Blind Clinical Evaluation of
Intra-Articular Glucosamine in Outpatients with Gonarthrosis (Knee
Arthritis)
| Article
Summary: |
Patients
suffering from arthritis of the knee were tested
to see if glucosamine helped to alleviate the pain
symptoms. Patients received either glucosamine or
a placebo on a weekly basis. The patients’
feelings of pains were recorded, as well as the
mobility of the joint, the swelling, and any intolerance.
Glucosamine was more effective at reducing pain
and increasing the mobility of the joint than the
placebo. The glucosamine also helped to stop the
joint from swelling more, while the placebo increased
swelling in other patients. The glucosamine was
able to alleviate the pain and aid in some recovery
of arthritis with very few side effects. |
