| Efficacy and Safety of Intramuscular Glucosamine
Sulfate in Osteoarthritis of the Knee. A Randomised, Placebo-controlled,
Double-blind Study.
| Article
Summary: |
Glucosamine
sulfate has been demonstrated to be effective for
treating arthritis when administered in the oral
form. This study used glucosamine sulfate in intramuscular
administration for 4 weeks to treat osteoarthritis.
One group in the study was given a placebo instead
of the glucosamine. The patients reported pain on
the Lequesne index, and the osteoarthritis was examined
to determine the effect of the injected glucosamine
sulfate. The injected glucosamine sulfate was more
effective than the placebo at reducing pain and
alleviating some of the arthritis. |
